WOW! What a weekend.
I have to start with the vast improvements that were obvious since the well documented event last year.
Access to the festival was fine, new tracks for the cars were in place in the car park.
More security checks were in place to the Camping / VIP / Glamping areas.
The layout of the festival was great and easily negotiated.
The Main Stage had a bigger top lip.
When it rained the staff were out in force putting wood chip down on the ground prevent bogging.
Well done for that, now onto the music.
What’s obvious about YNOT is how much they support unsigned music, they have so many tents all jam packed with people discovering new music. I have to say that YNOT are leading the way here, which is great to see.
Leading the way with stage presence and swagger are SHEAFS down at The Quarry stage. Here is how they opened their set.
A personal highlight for me was to catch Seasick Steve on the main stage. Sat down with his makeshift instruments, his quick wit, his stories and relaxed vibe he had over 30 thousand people in the palm of his hands. That’s how you do it bands, quick tip, study how this guy engages with the audience before he plays a note. The time he spends engaging with his audience is as important as the tunes themselves.
If you were put off going to YNOT after the stories that came out last year then you are losing out, get yourself onto the early bird tickets for next year, you will have a great time.
Stay tuned to RGM over the coming days as we have plenty of interviews and exclusive footage for you to enjoy.
