Released back in February, Jack B Dawson mellows out the aura with the lyrically golden “Don’t Wait Up”. There’s a subtle nudge towards the indie movement through his inspiring vocal lines. With already debut EP “Lubo” under his sleeves, Jack’s latest work features his best production yet. “Don’t Wait Up” has a hint of the mod revival but holds onto a simple but effective pop arrangement. Part of the ever growing but warming Manchester scene, the Stockport artist is soon to quickly escalate to the top.
With a ‘what you see is what you get’ nature, the playful track circulates around a difficult subject of letting go. Recorded at Eve Studio in Stockport by Joel Patchett (The Orielles) and mixed and mastered by Jim Spencer (Johnny Marr, The Charlatans), it’s safe to say that Jack has got the best people around him produce an anthem. There’s nothing really I could say to improve on this track, Jack obviously had a clear vision for what this track was to sound like.
Maybe to make a future track more exciting, add an even more exciting arrangement to make it feel slightly more original. The instrumentation is fairly simple and could do with being energised a little bit more. Nevertheless, Jack is preparing for his next show on the 15th June at the Pop Cafe in Hyde. He will return with upcoming single “Mexican Scar”, so keep your eyes peeled and never let go Jack… of your dream.. (sorry I had to make a Titanic pun somewhere in this).
