Alt-folk duo Oh Little Ghost return with melancholic infused number ‘Devil‘. Consisting of vocalist Kit Narey and producer/guitarist Nathan Hilton, the duo blend reflective lyrics with an atmospheric sound that will leave you speechless.
A gentle number that explores a dark realm, ‘Devil‘ is the second single taken from their debut album ‘White Lilies’. Armed with an alternative face but folk based instrumentation, there’s something haunting about this track that tells listeners things aren’t as they seem.
Expanding into something quite powerful, ‘Devil‘ builds with momentum while holding onto it’s brooding nature. With their debut album set for release next year, the release explores themes of falling apart but getting up, dusting yourself off and starting again. Recorded with bassist Jim Hewin, drummer Felipe Arevalo and cellist Rhian Porter, Oh Little Ghost are certainly in good company on the upcoming release.
What makes ‘Devil‘ extra special is how it let’s listeners in to feel reassured that no matter what we all go through, we will always find the light at the end of the tunnel. Comforting and quite the opposite of a song with the title ‘Devil’ should be like, this is certainly an angel in disguise. One of the most powerful folk songs I’ve personally heard this year, Oh Little Ghost’s ‘Devil’ is dramatic yet delicate.
