The South Coast outfit can now be described as past masters after a few years in the game, and with this single they show they know how to craft a decent tune.
‘Are You Ready To Fly?’ has a lot to admire instrumentally, with the bass guitar throughout the song being particularly impressive. There’s also a cracking riff on the lead that sadly only graces the track twice at the beginning and end, which it would have been great to hear more of.
There’s also plenty to love in the vocals, with some tidy harmonies throughout and a lead singer who inexplicably seems to be the vocal doppelganger of current-era Liam Gallagher.
Honestly, it’s frightening. The lyrics are clever and catchy throughout, most notably in the chorus, which just has such a perfect balance and flow.
The Rising show their experience and class to full effect on this track. If ‘Are You Ready To Fly?’ is anything to go by, the rest of the namesake album has got a lot to live up to, and I have a sneaking suspicion that it will.
