They may be newcomers in the industry, but Brighton based band XOXO are certainly stating they mean business. Straight off the mark with ear-worm infused debut single ‘Weekends‘, this is the sort of track you stick on during the week to hype you up for the weekend ahead.
Receiving praise from sites and radio stations all across the UK, XOXO could easily be one of the finest bands to have emerged from the COVID-19 pandemic – got to look at the positives in life, right?
“Weekends” comes across as a genre-hopping indie-pop miracle that’s jam-packed with addictive beats, distinctive hooks and one hell of a guitar solo to add some extra flavouring.
Self-produced & recorded both at home and at Brighton Electric studios with engineer Ally Jowett, this confident number radiates good times and nothing else.
Whilst the musicality may be vivid and radiating positivity, the lyricism finds frontman Vid picking apart the joys, excitement and nerves of catching yourself falling in love with someone who lives miles away. We’ve all been there at least once, it’s a natural human trait to usually want something you can’t have, yet ‘Weekends‘ really nurtures you and makes you feel reassured that everything happens for a reason.
